Loud Updates corrects material factual errors and aims to make substantive corrections transparent to readers.
What We Correct
Corrections can include inaccurate names, dates, amounts, eligibility conditions, locations, quotations, descriptions of laws or rules, statistics, links, captions or other factual statements that could materially change a reader's understanding.
How Corrections Are Handled
- Material factual error: the article is corrected and, where appropriate, a correction or update note is added explaining the meaningful change.
- Developing story: new confirmed information may be added as an update when the earlier reporting was accurate at the time of publication.
- Minor edit: typographical errors, grammar, formatting or wording that does not change the meaning may be corrected without a formal correction note.
Headlines And Distribution
If a material error appears in the headline, deck, image caption or other prominent presentation, those elements should be corrected as well. When practical, we may also update distributed versions of the story.
